I have had a good fortune of observing and participating in V.C.D.M from my childhood, as I was raised in the household where the idea of this movement took roots. My great Aunt Mrs Hema Rairkar was one of the founding member of this movement.
The democratic methodology, giving importance to holistic education, building and elevating awareness, equality and sense of togetherness among the animators, has always attracted me.
I have always felt that, it’s very important that, the society develops from the grassroots, the rural population taking charge of their destiny and development through self improvement and empowerment. Also, it’s very creditable that V.C.D.M focuses on the holistic development of agriculture, as around 60% of Indians are directly or indirectly employed and dependant on the said.
And last but not the least, the holistic education of rural girls having challenging socio-economic background is given importance by animators. The development of villages cannot be achieved without aware and empowered women in them.
I am proud to be a part of V.C.D.M and the fact that animators chose me as the coordinator of this movement. I help coordination and organisation of different projects and activities as well as I coordinate and communicate between different groups involved in V.C.D.M. Animators have also asked me to help them in the capacity of an adviser in the subject – V.C.D.M. methodology and development theory.
